Um, you ask about mail readers but talk about news readers. I suppose
it's news readers you're looking for.
There isn't much in the way of news readers really. At least not
non-SOUP/Waffle stuff. Some use a reader called RNR that works with
this Waffle (UUCP?) and I was told it has the ability to do the
Net-Tamer thing - the ability to pick and choose the messages you
want to download.
In DOS this is a requirement for me as I too don't like to download
a ton of messages. I also don't want to stay online using an online
reader such as Trumpet News (which doesn't sort or thread).
So far Net-Tamer is the only thing to use for news 'til something
else comes along or I test this RNR/Waffle thing.
Time to do some looking around. First stop is the mail-news FAQ which
I haven't checked in years.
