Chances are you have a Video 7 (Vega) type card and a CGA monitor. This
card will work with CGA, EGA, or VGA. I only know the settings for CGA:

dips: 1 2 3 4 5 6
off on off on on off

Behind the VGA connector, there's a jumper for "MONTYPE". Set it for
CD/MD. If this doesn't work, set it for ECD and experiment further with
the dipswitches. Later on, I'll be trying mine with EGA and VGA, and
will be able to give settings for those, too.

If it's a CGA, you'll notice that some programs will produce a scrambled
screen. That's because they find the EGA/VGA memory and assume EGA. I've
written a very small TSR to correct this problem.

If anyone wants that TSR or the other settings when I have them, mail me
to request them.

That's not exactly the whole problem.

Set it for drive type, but read the rest, first.

That's exactly the whole problem.

Compaq machines usually require Compaq boards for this.

Not too long ago, I threw away a Compaq MFM/RLL/floppy/
serial/parallel controller. Please don't shoot. I stopped commiting such
crimes when I found the SurvPC list.
