I never succeeded with Filelink either - eventually gave up
and used the Crynwr PLIP packet driver instead. It lets you
network two machines through the printer ports with a
laplink cable. Transfer speeds are fast enough for NFS,
though I've never used it for anything more than telnet and
ftp. It's been ported to Linux too.
