Well, I would have to say SCSI is probably the best way to go.  IDE
controllers are drive specific in the 8-bit versions, I believe, and very
rare.  I don't know if they would even be able to operate a cd-rom, anyways.

I have never used a parallel cd-rom before.  I have always thought of them
as being sort of being Mickey Mousey, Though.

If you can find an 8-bit SCSI controller, and an older SCSI cd-rom, I think
you will be all set.  The cd-rom shouldn't be too hard, the card might be a
little harder to find.  I have one in my 5150 PC, but have never tried a
cd-rom with it.  SCSI is basically SCSI, However.

I would reccomend Ebay if you are connected to the interent with a graphical
browser.
