After lengthy discussions about DOS support for recording on my Toshiba
Satellite 2535 CDS, and finding no solutions, I at last decided to give
Toshiba a call and inquire into this. Toshiba quickly stated that they do
*NOT* support DOS recording, just Windows, with the current setup of this
notebook that uses the Yamaha OPL3-SA3 sound card (which happens to be Sound
Blaster Pro compatible). They said that a driver for DOS has not been
written for this card by Yamaha; it would be a matter wherein Yamaha would
have to write such a driver and/or Toshiba would request it and collaborate
with them to provide it. This simply means that there's not enough reason
for either company to provide full DOS support. <sigh>
I seriously doubt that I would have enough money or reason to ask Yamaha to
write such a driver.

Conclusion:
The inability of the Toshiba Satellite 2535 CDS to record sound under DOS is
not a hardware issue of its Yamaha sound card; it is a software issue.

Thank you, especially Eko Priono and Gary Maddox, for your careful analysis
of this problem.
