If the card in the laptop/notebook is sbpro compatible, then what's wrong
with using the soundblaster sbpro drivers? You can record under dos with
those just fine. I've done this many times, and even the new awe64 card
has dos software for it, I'm using one of those now, and it works just
fine. You've got to load a whole lot of junk to make it happen, but it's
not all that difficult to have multiple config.sys files one for sound,
and one for none.
