Strange, non-standard VESA? My old SVGA card (Realtek
ISA) also has built-in VESA 1.2 (exactly the same
version), and it works fine with Arachne in VESA mode.
Basically, VESA-compliant SVGA systems should hide the
hardware layer completely from the applications. So,
if it was implemented properly, ISA, EISA, or even PCI
shouldn't be the problem.
BTW, have you tried UNIVBE as VESA driver?

I might be wrong, but IIRC, ET6000 cards are backward-
compatible with ET4000; so you'll have two choices with
Arachne: VESA, and native ET4000 support.
