I'm going to make a sweeping statement here, and I may
be wrong (others in the list feel free to correct me).
The repair techs are full of it. Windows does not talk
directly to hardware. Drivers do that. (Yes, I know
the line is sometimes blurred in Win9x, but it's still
a driver.) I would only accept a verdict like that if
I got it straight from NEC.
Even if the monitor DOES require special signals from the
driver to get the colors right, there will be a VGA utility
out there that allows you to adjust the signals from the
card to the monitor.
Try running some DOS VGA games on it. I'd be interested
in hearing how that goes.
I'm sorry I don't have a good answer for you, but (said
through clenched teeth) I think they're giving you the
mushroom treatment.
