Maybe you should take their suggestion and bring both the monitor
and your computer to the shop so they can see the problem first
hand. Have you tried the monitor on your other machine? Same
problem?
There may be an incompatibility between the monitor and your
VGA card, which is why I asked if you tried the monitor on you
other computer.
Since the techs are really trying and the monitor appears to
function as intended with their set up, take the whole system in so
they can diagnose the problem. They might not be able to fix it, but
they should be able to find out why it's not working.
