Raymond,

I have had this problem.  With my 286 it misbehaved until it warmed
up.  After being switched on and off over years, the heating/cooling
can cause RAM (and other chips) to loosen in the motherboard.
Sometimes assuring that all your socketed chips are well seated
will fix it.
