With newer versions of Windows95 booting to previous DOS-version can be done once,
then it will not boot at all. Some of the systemfiles of Windows95 are overwritten
by older ones (io.sys at least). There are some patches around to fix this and to use
Windows 3.x with Windows95. I never tried to do it, but I think I have a lot
instructions
on my harddisk somewhere.
I recommend a bootmanager to avoid manipulating the single operation systems.
