Seems a little to much to me. This much swap is only needed if
you want to run a big server. As you have a pretty recent computer
I assume you have at least 64 MB of RAM. 64 MB of SWAP will be
enough most of the time. Remember: it's also possible to use
(slightly less performing) swap-FILES which can be created and used
on the fly.

As you have a new computer you can directly boot from the CD. In
your BIOS there will be an option to set your booting device.
