Correct me if I'm wrong. Your motherboard has some
pins ::::: and you push a plug (on a narrow ribbon
cable with the port at the other end) onto the pins?

First, are you sure the plug is round the right way?
Are you sure it is the correct cable? Unfortunately
different computers use different pinouts on their
port cable plugs. Just because the plug lines up with
the pins, doesn't mean it's the correct cable.

Are you using a mouse driver? Are you sure the
driver works for the type of mouse you are using?

What addresses are you using?

If the cable is wrong for your computer's com1, it will
also be wrong for com2.

In my parts box, I have three plug-in serial ports.
All have 25-pins. All have 5x2 holes in the plug.
All are mutually incompatible.

Only if the adapter is faulty. Unlikely.

Are you sure HDD interface card has no comports?

It is possible that the network card has been put on
an IRQ usually taken by a comport. Is there a jumper
on the network card showing its IRQ?

If it's external, we'll definitely have to sort the
port problems first. If it's internal, we'll need
to know which ports/IRQs are free.

It would help if you could run the PortInfo utility
in the CTS SPU package, available for download from:
