DOS has to be within the first fivehundredodd megabytes of a harddisk, and as I 
already have a DOS-partition, I would use that one, but it is a bad alternative.

Well, Linux can not write to a HPFS-system, and I can not use FAT as I use 
applications, that use long and even Unixstyle filenames (like .micqrc) OS/2 is an 
operating
system, it boots OS/2 first, and with the GUI comes support for multiple, separate DOS 
and Windows sessions.

I will have to deliver the Sundays papers first, when I get back I will start moving 
things around on the disks, then I will try to install and report the results.
