Well, since batteries leak acid too, best to remove the silly thing,
huh?  I usually strip batteries as part of the process of stripping useful
things off.  I was envisioning the circuitry itself, chips and resistors
and the like, soldered to the plastic board

hmmm, that pic isn't very clear, it's the last one on the page, and I left
it large so you can click on it and get a full screen shot of it and get a
better look at the circuitry.
I've decorated the exterior of a Mac plus in a similar fashion, it looks
like time did a number on it, as well as having a technician "add" stuff to
it.  I really love the look of circuit boards, always have.  They look like
miniature cities of the future.
