Hi, Dave,
I like it. Nice message, there. I hope you can keep that BBS up and
running. If I lived in the Ann Arbor, Michigan area, I'd be a subscriber to
your BBS. We had a local BBS here in the Atlanta area with Internet E-mail
and even a full dial-up Unix shell service for several years. He ran a
PCBoard software-based system, had almost 999 conferences and echoes,
including from FidoNet and RimeNet; and 10GB of files online divided into
several dozen category file areas. It was the best-run BBS system I've ever
seen before or since, and we all hated to see it go. Unfortunately, it
almost got out of hand with him, and was costing him far more money than he
could keep up with, especially when the number of payed subscriptions
dropped by three-fourths in one 18-month period from early 1995 until it
closed down in 1996. Atlanta used to be a great BBS town partly because we
have the what may still be the largest tollfree local service phone area in
terms of geography in the country. At the present time, this includes three
entire area codes, and people in other areas can pay about $10 to $15 extra
per month for the privellege of dialing into the Atlanta area without paying
per-minute long distance charges.

As recently as two years ago, there were still nearly 200 boards operating
in the area.
