Hi Pippi, If diagnostics says com 4 doesn't exist without the modem installed or set to com 4 go ahead and set the modem to com 4. Com 4 won't exist until you set the modem to com4. I'm assuming we are talking about an internal modem here. You may not be able to use com 2 but as long as nothing is connected to it you shouldn't have to disable it ( I did have to disable com2 in a Compaq with an internal modem on com4, but that could be done from setup).
