Those dials you found are indeed the picture adjustment knobs. Leave the
monitor on, plugged in, and adjust them until the picture looks like it
should. My roommate has donet his many times, and fixed many monitors
that were destined for the dump when all they needed were a few
adjustments. It won't hurt anything to play with those knobs with the
monitor on, it's just like using the external ones, only those are fine
tuning.
