Match those "dials" back up with their painted lines. Those are purity
and convergence rings, and needing to adjust those is very rare.

Find the wire (usually red) with the rubber cup that attaches to
the picture tube at one end. DON'T TOUCH ANYWHERE AROUND THE CUP. There's
at least 9000 volts there and it holds it even with the monitor off and
unplugged. At the other end of this wire is a transformer (usually black).
Somewhere on the transformer are two knobs. Leave the bottom one (screen)
alone. Twist the top one (focus) for best picture. It may be locked with
"paint"-- break the paint. If this doesn't get it, you'll have to get it
repaired.
