Bad assumption.  The terms of most upgrade licenses provide that you will
not use any previous version in any other machine.  Read the fine print.
If you have a new license for Office 97, then you may use your previous
version on another machine.  If however your license is for an "upgrade",
then you can't legally run your previous version in another machine.  Such
is my understanding of the stupid laws relating to such matters.
