Who said it was an upgrade? All programs that my father has on his work I
can use in 1 copy on a single computer here at home. (Since the same thing
also applys to my mother since a few years back I can have it installed on
two machines - so all installations are covered).
Of course when I move away from home I'll be down to 4 licenses for MS-DOS
(3.x, and three 6.x), two Windows (two 3.11 fwg), one PC-DOS (3.x) and one
Word (2.0 for DOS) and that's probably it.
To me this question is rather academic, if a program is worth buying I'll
buy it. None of Microsofts programs "that I need" are of such a case except
MS-DOS 6.x and I've got plenty of licenses for that, and I doubt I can get
any new anyway even if I try.

As long as I have a license for version X I can use any version that is
bellow (or equal to) X, I can't however not sell any version and still keep
running it.
I'll grant I don't know the most current laws in this area, nor how the
laws outside Sweden works but this atleast was the way it was handled
earlier on. Our entering the EES (hmm... is that the short form for the
EFTA-EG/EU agreement in english as well?) and later EU have changed some
laws. For starters, it's now illegal to copy programs you don't have a
license for - but I've already told the list this. Now this and my statment
about licenses earlier on doesn't fit to well together but that was the way
it was.
