I recommend anhydrous (dry, not 70 % N.F.) isopropyl alcohol and a Q-tip
to clean the rollers.  The little wheel that passes through the photoswitch
should spin freely, just by blowing on it.  If not, the bearings (should be
self-lubricated) may need cleaning.  A tiny drop of light oil on the
bearings would probably be more of a dust-collector than a help at
lubrication.  Any oil on the rollers would be counterproductive.  The ball
is best washed with a little liquid dishwashing soap and water.  Rinse and
dry.
