After seeing the horror that is called "MS Comic Chat", and comparing
the fact that mIRC have forced a new "color code" standard into IRC
(which many clients still do not support), i've began to think
about how to get IRC to be propierty in even more inovative ways.
(generally this was caused by the bad mood generated from the fact
that i'm currently sick, and its painful.)
* Use HTML tags - Why use simple text when you can get to use diffrant
sizes, styles, and fonts by using simple HTML code?
Clients that would not support this function will
have to view tons of unrequired stuff, and this is
expected to block the IRC server's bandwidth.
But then again, if it happened with E-Mail, it can
happen with IRC.
* Use propierty fonts - If you let the user select their fonts, you
can use it to display their mood together with
the emoticons icons. These fonts should be
availble only with the program, so that
other IRC clients that would try to support
this feature will have a hard time doing it.
(generally - will have to make their own.)
* Extended ID - A feature that can hold more information about a user
then their host, nick, real name and e-mail address,
like age, gender, if there is a picture present, and
so on. Ofcourse, this cannot be implemented in the
/whois data that is controled by the server, so
a coded info about this will appear each time the
user will send a line, in the begining of it.
* Graphics support - Who said that IRC has to be text only? The user
can add their own background image to their text,
or an animation or picture that would appear near
their name.. or even a picture instead of a nick!
These graphics will be mentioned in the previously
mentioned Extended ID features. A special WWW
server will be up to store these images, which will
be uploaded by the program each time you connect.
The users can then download it from there without
causing too much traffic on that user's system.
Ofcourse, "old" clients wouldnt be able to view
any of the graphics. (which ofcourse, wouldnt use
ALT tags. Duh.). And ofcourse, this will allow the
graphics server admins to know who is talking with
who.
The result would look like this:
<JoeUser>#9452347#<FONT="HAPPY.FNT"><I>Hi! how are you all doing?</I>
<Submarine>Joe.. get another client, will ya?..
