Probably.
OTOH, a while ago I thought I was having a similar problem -- serious
grinding noise from my HD, thought it was time to buy a new HD.
Turned out it was something stuck in my power supply fan. Cleaned that
out, no more noise.
So are you sure the noise is the hard drive, not something else?
Alas, I -do- need to buy a new hard drive anyway, because (1) it's too
small, and (2) it's too old and beginning to fail in spots. But the
noise was something else entirely.
