Hi Bernie,
The cards are pretty much functionally identical. However, 3Com's revision
system is a bit odd - there are several versions of the 3C509, including the
A, B, B Rev A, B Rev B and B Rev 2 (looking at a selection from my box
o'bits here). Go with the 3C509B - the early 509s could be unreliable on
occasion, but I've neverhad trouble with any of my Bs.
Also, switch off as much of the auto-detect stuff as you can - force it to
use BNC, turn off frame-type autodetection if your client has the option.
