I can't help you with a soundcard question (I don't even
use a soundcard in DOS), but if you don't get an answer
here, I suggest you try the Linux-newbie list.

There's not too much traffic and the guys over there are
very helpful/friendly (as long as you give them all the
details and tell them exactly what error messages you
are getting).
