Hello Ron:

Try a file chopping utility such as CHOP.EXE to split the file into
smaller, more manageable segments. You will have to do some little cut
and paste jobs to prepend the Word 97 header junk found in the first
chunk onto the beginning of the subsequent chunks. Then convert the file
segments by using View.

Another thing you could do is to write back to the person who sent you
the Word 97 file and ask him to convert it to ascii or HTML and then to
send it back to you. If the person doesn't even know know how to convert
it to something readable (Some people don't even know how to do this, even
though they use Word 97 every day!), then you can send the file to me or
to someone else who has Word 97. Anyone who has Word 97, and who knows how
to use it, can easily convert it to ascii or HTML and send it back to you
within a matter of minutes. If converted to ascii it would be readable, but
if you would like fonts and formatting to approximate those of the Word 97
document, then it would be better to convert it to HTML.

All the best,

Sam Heywood
