You can't write to a cd, even the rewritable ones, without destroying the
existing data, they just don't work that way.
I have seen one software that cannot be USED on more than one machine at a
time, it includes a special floppy disk which cannot be duplicated, not
even with imaging software.  It transfers an authorization key back and
forth between installed software and floppy.  Whereever that key is sitting
is where you can use the software, so you could install it on several
machines, move the key back and forth via the one special floppy, and use
it on several machines, but only one at a time.
I do not know about the m$ products mentioned here, havent' heard of them
in my travels even though my travels include places where that would be a
hot topic.  It is my guess that this is an incorrect rumour.
