I also have IBM Graphics Assistant (and have been able to install it),
and I believe that the program won't let you install it unless you allow
it to write to its disk -- where it presumably keeps track of the number;
this is version 1.00 (1984). The manual shows how to install the program
on floppy disks, but I don't see where there's a minimum number of installs
for using it that way; however, it *does* specifically say that if you
install it on a *hard disk*, you're only allowed five installation attempts.

With a CD, I suspect an installation program could be made to be sensitive
to a particular machine, which would make it reject being installed on
a different one. That would make it *appear* that you could only install
it once.
