It's a derogatory term for women who run about scolding people for what are
often very small errors of speech. These are women who will swear at you
for holding open the door, or slap you for asking for a date. They were
much more common in the seventies, they've mostly grown up and moved into
politics, or gotten burdened with children that take up the extra energy,
or realized how rude they've been and shut up. Some have settled quietly
with their "wives" and leave it at that.
