talking about programming languages...
Personally i like Pascal very much, and the compiler i always use is
FreePascal (http://www.freepascal.org). It compiles for multiple platforms
(DOS, Win32, Linux -- older version also AmigaOS and OS/2) and it's native
32-bit... minimal requirements are a 386SX with 2Megs of RAM... for the
interested it has also some Delphi extensions relating to object-oriented
programming. A sort of 'spin-off' project is the Lazarus-project which is
trying to make a sort of alternative to Delphi.
A programming language that i think is very much related to Perl, is the
Ruby language. It's a object-oriented scripting language that looks very
interesting but seems to be only popular in Japan. I know about that
language already quite some time but never had the time to actually check it
out. But it should also possible to use under DOS, even multithreaded if i
can believe the docs... OS-independent threading as they call it.
Multiplatform is in this case: UNIX, DOS, Windows 95/98/NT, Mac, BeOS,
OS/2,... I guess you'll have to compile the stuff yourself then... anyone
already tried this out ?

thought this would interest some of you
