In so many computers there seems to be a large social and economic
gap between managers and workers (in any language). And the managers
most often do not need to be very technically knowledgeable. Many
of them have been taught a standard approach to everything: lists,
schedules, assignments, counting things done, action items, meetings,
etc. etc.
And the upward money path usually requires one become some kind of
a manager or other at some point. I do wonder is there is as much
mobility among managers as among computer workers.
