Just keep in mind that the server has to support enough ports. If you go
beyond two concurrent serial port connections (and perhaps a few parallel)
you're going to have IRQ issues. At that point, a higher density serial
board, or terminal servier will be required, which may well cost more than
an Ethernet solution. Also, those serial runs are limited in length.
You might do it as a proof-of-concept to show the value of a network, then
convince them to "do it right" down the road.
