Yes, that IS harsh, you put work into it and it was just trashed.
Let it go though.  you could put it back together, donate it again, and see
that happen again.  Fact is, people DONT have that much use for old
machines around here, the pentiums are firmly here, floods of them, and
decent prices.  Hell, you can buy a new machine for well under a thousand
dollars now, used machines are cheaper than the monitors!
This is hard for a packrat, but sometimes you have to just let go.
(same for that gas guzzling boat you're thinking about, if you ain't gonna
use it, let it go)
Hmph, finally let my old van go, passed it on to a guy that prolly won't
ever get it fixed, just let it turn to rust in a farmer's field, though he
intends to fix it right enough.  In the end we must remember that it's only
artifacts of our civilization
