Hard to tell. Back in my AOL days there used to be way too much
activity, sometimes enough to bog things down. I never trusted AOL
or its software. Never knew what was going on.
Sure sometimes the ISP will do an idle check but lights flashing
about like a full transfer is going on is a bit much.
On a regular dial-up using Linux I'd notice a little activity
now and again. Cool thing is there's log files to consult and I found
that someone was trying to relay mail through my machine.
I now have a setup with firewall and and all that.
I don't know what you use for connecting but it'd be nice if you
could somehow log activity.
Probably possible with most environments `cept maybe DOS(??).
