If you do, it will almost certainly be of no note. For most people
Win3.1 is a glorified DOS in that they tend start one program at a time
and for any external login to succeed you need to be running something
which services the port attempted. You will almost certainly know
exactly what you are running.

Whether you can log probes depends on how the stack handles them. If it
can log activity you could use that. If it just mindlessly passes data
through, the logging would have to come after the stack, Arachne in this
case. If it can log activity, that will do it. I don't know if Arachne
multitasks, but if so there may be a logging daemon you can use. If all
else fails, just feel happy that your machine is rebuffing all attempts
to cozy up to it :)

On your Win98 machine, I would urge you to get a firewall of some sort.
It will log/stop unwelcome activity in both directions. Atguard is
reliable (I have the feeling that it's commercial now, but the old
versions are probably still available on the net) and Zonealarm gets
good reports. The old Atguard and Zonealarm are both free and there may
well be others.
I don't know what your AV routine is, but keep the AV up to date and use
it on *all* files no matter how they arrive. Note that some Win9x
"malware" will stop you logging into some AV sites, giving rise to a
neat chicken and egg quandary. If you ever get into that position,
you'll thank your lucky stars for Arachne :)
