The 127.0.0.1 is an address conventionally used for the
local machine. Telnetting to 127.0.0.1 is telnetting to
your local machine, from that machine. I don't know if
Win98 sets local loopback up by default, nor what network
services it runs by default either. You could test for
127.0.0.1 with "ping 127.0.0.1". In any case, your choice
of telnet app shouldn't make a difference. What you want to
do is "telnet 127.0.0.1 3752" to see what 216.35.217.182
was connecting to, if anything.
