I cannot believe that a few hundred people in the
Hospitals in NYC would significantly draw down the
supply in USA Blood banks. Rather, this is the Red
Cross taking advantage of the desire on the part
of Americans to do something, anything, to make
them feel like they can make a contribution.

A noble purpose, but a bad example of the kind of
emotional appeals which were used by other nationals
to commit terrorism in the first place. They too,
view their actions as noble.

Men of primitive, racist, patriarchic cultures see
that as the egalitarianism of the global market goes
on, that their own traditional way of life is at risk,
and therefore will do whatever they can think of to
destroy it. At this point, all they havta do is spread
panic. The global economy is, after all, built on greed,
and any sociologist/psychologist can demonstrate how
quickly that can be converted into fear and anarchy.

The dot-com fiasco can easily ripple thru the whole
economy to fulfill the domino theory once applied to
the war in Vietnam. But whatever the hopes of the
macho terrorists may be, we are not going back to the
stone age, where the strong right arm of the warriors,
they think they are, will once again be in demand.

At some point, whether the fires are put out, or just
burn out, people will begin to look around to see what
resources they still have to work with. The surv pc is
one of those resources. One thing I recommend at this
point is to download antenna and ham radio software
and documentation. Even if it gets so bad that the
internet goes down, a wireless network can be built on
the rubble of recycled computer and electronic parts.

The resources do download these files is a lot easier
and lot more convenient than giving blood, but if that
is feasible for you personally as well, by all means.
There may be other events requiring blood plasma. That
will be more important than trying to help the victims
of the current disasters.
