Somewhere in the BIOS setup you will probably find a screen that will offer you the options of enabling or diabling specific com ports. Are you sure the mouse driver is loaded? Did you load a driver for a serial port mouse, or did you load a driver for a PS/2 type mouse? Different kinds of mice require different types of mouse drivers. Try different types of mouse drivers. Also your mouse might have a compatibility problem that can't be fixed simply by putting an adaptor on the end of the PS/2 mouse.
