I haven't given BGFAX a real try yet (it's in storage awaiting the
need), but I do have a complete CD of stuff that came with my modem
(AVTEK = Netcomm, re-badged). It includes a whole heap of stuff
including what is claimed to be a complete fax suite for Win 3.1.

I don't know how it works, don't know what it even looks like when
installed, because I have a real fax machine in my home office. The CD
is produced by Computer Associates, and has software rejoicing in the
name of BitWare for Windows 3.x/95/98/NT. Maybe there is something for
download from Computer Associates website.
The manual shows the software is writen by a subsidiary of CA
International - Cheyenne Software Inc, 3 Expressway Plaza, Roslyn
Heights, NY 11577, if that is any help.

I will look at the CD and see if there is something I can "sample".

<later> Nope. It seems to be one complete setup and configure thing.
Even the manual is in PDF and over 500 kb, but the Acrobat reader is
also on the CD, for both 16 and 32 bit systems.

I seem to remember that I thought it was pretty bloated when I
installed it to take a look, then deleted the whole thing almost
immediately.

But it IS the installation stuff that came with the (Netcomm) modem,
so there is always the possibility that it will work best with Netcomm
compatible modems.

I can't send the original CD, but it may be possible to get a copy
burned if you really cannot get what you need, Sam. If so, email me
off-list.

OTOH: I have some back numbers of cover CDs from '97 - 2000 off an
Australian PC mag, which used to include Win3 stuff in the early years.
I seem to remember some fax progs on that - I will check and get back to
you. But probably nothing not already on Simtel or Garbo.

Regards,
         Ron
