The orientation towards networked "terminals", and quite some of the
cumbersome *nix heritage is a serious handicap for making Linux easier
accepted by many (potential) users.

I do aggree, and to quite some degree, to Day's opinion there and
would like to term it even more pointedly: the lack of a single-user
structural arrangement is a pain in the sitting region, and a "powerful"
pain for that.
