nobody will be offended by my posting of this information here.)

They are getting a bit hard to find, and many come and go, but there are at
least three well established mostly-free shell account services with telnet
access. Check out (via telnet):

* arbornet.org
* cyberspace.org
* sdf.lonestar.org

All three have websites at the same address that will give you some more
detail. Note that lonestar.org requires a "mini-donation" of $1US (5Euro),
more to illustrate that you're serious than to generate profit.

Of the three, arbornet has been the easiest to get started with. They DO
restrict a lot of outbound traffic though (i.e. no ssh, telnet) but that's
not TOO surprising.
