My own holehearted praise for LSppp comes from the experience that it runs,
since the latest amendments (as well as it did in its earlier version
of Jan'01, btw) reliably and working fast - loaded into _low_ DOS memory.

REM-1: present version is _zero_ dot etc, 0.764 - and even expressedy
declared as trial version.
REM-2: never came to me to load it high; primarily because higher mem is
fully crowded anyway with drivers and other stuff I want to have present
always, and thus I am highly content with the additional feature of
the small footprint of LSppp temporarily for net work.

My guess is that your problem with it would indeed be linked with the
highloading. Why not write to the autor and mail hin the precise
diagnosis ? My expierinece was that he responded very eagerly, and
immediately worked on, those error reports I sent him end of
last/beginning of this year.
