James, Some Compaq models will take you to the CMOS/BIOS setup screen if you press F10 during boot.
Some require software. Even if the "Press F10" message does not display, try it anyway. Costs nothing. I've run into this need when adding memory to Compaqs. It wouldn't boot because it detected a discrepancy between the actual memory and that stored in CMOS. Had to use F10 to get into CMOS setup, save changes before it would come up. ~~ Garry * [EMAIL PROTECTED] ----- Original Message ----- From: "James W Fuller" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Monday, October 28, 2002 6:57 PM Subject: [SURVPC] BIOS set up > I took the hard drive out of a Goldstar 386 with Windows 3.1 and put in > in a Compaq Prolinea 5100 that lacked a hard drive.
