Yes (usually). I've got a 2.2 bare.i kernel (from slack80) running on my slack81 installation. I've had no problems (even though the slack81 bare.i is a 2.4). > Will the reiserfs pose problems for older kernels? Yes, I think it probably will. AFAIK none of the stock 2.2 kernels were reiser-capable. You are probably better off wiht ext2 (unless you really need a super-reliable system). reiserfs uses significantly more HD space than ext2.
