I mean compiling from source code.

As you might recall I have been working on getting wireless networking to
work on some old notebook computers. I have not been able to get some of
the packages I need to compile cleanly under BasicLinux. The precompiled
Slackware 8.1 versions do not have all of the features I need so, I'm
still thinking about how to to get this to happen and leave me a
reasonably functional minimal system.

I also had to build a new kernel because wireless networking is not
enabled on the BasicLinux kernel.

BTW did I miss something? I noticed on the BasicLinux web site that
BasicLinux is now up to version 1.8?
