I saw on LinuxToday, today, that M$ has announced a 10/6/99 release date
for WIN2000.

Did you ever see a deer in your headlights while driving at night? They
seem frozen by the glare of the beams in their eyes. It hinders their
ability to see outside the beam and as a result they many times move in
the wrong direction and die. "Frozen in the Headlights" describes what
M$ is attempting to do to consumers by releasing another "release"
date. It is just another in the long line of release dates which were
released to the consumer frozen and delay their possible selection of
Linux to replace Win-NT "solutions".

I would suprise me if even an unstable version of Win2000 (would there
be any other kind?) is released by 10/6/99. Even if it is, don't count
on a service pack to fix the bugs before June of next year. By then
the instability of Win2000 will be infamous and the sounds of thunder
will be the herds of deer stampeeding to Linux.
Yes!
