Thanks for the urls. I actually have seen the most recent laptop
information regarding using pcmcia services under kernel 2.2.4 and it
only requires that the pcmcia services at 3.07 level be installed and
it instructs how to test for that level by using a command to check.
Kernel 2.2.4 does not offer the kernel compilation switch as in earlier
kernels for pcmcia support whatsoever but states you need to be at the
3.07 release or upgrade the daemon and server. SuSE 6 has that level
of pcmcia services already.
The main question is whether kernel 2.2.4 requires a higher version
level than 3.07 or requires that 3.07 needs to be recompiled under that
particular kernel. The methods for getting a pcmcia aware kernel is
sufficiently vague in the Documentation/Changes file.
Lenz or anyone, what is base requirement with the 2.2 series to get
pcmcia services working. I am going from 2.0.36 to 2.2.4 here on a
Dell Inspiron 7000 laptop.
