I'd sugguest to download the source and compile it.

If the printer stuff is compiled into the kernel or as a module,
there should't be any problems. If you wan't modulize printer
support, select the following in the kernel configuration:

General setup  --->
        <M> Parallel port support
        <M>    PC-style hardware

Character devices  --->
        <M> Parallel printer support

And add

alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
options parport_pc io=0x378 irq=7

to /etc/conf.modules (of course you have to use the io and irq
of your parallel port). Also make sure that you have kmod
support in your kernel:

Loadable module support  --->
        [*] Enable loadable module support
        [*] Kernel module loader

And when configuring your printer with YaST, keep in mind that
kernel 2.2.x uses /dev/lp0 instead of /dev/lp1.

Ciao,
        Stefan
