The Documentation/Changes file says:
If you use pcmcia cards, you'll need to upgrade the daemon and
support utils to the latest release of pcmcia-cs.
Information at www.linuxhq.com on required libraries for 2.2.4
clearly states that pcmcia services at the 3.0.7 levl must be present
to get pcmcia working. Here is a result of a rpm -q I did on pcmcia:
speedy /usr/src/linux/Documentation: rpm -q pcmcia
pcmcia-3.0.7-1
So what is right and what is wrong here? The latest pcmcia-cs modules,
daemon and other stuff is now at 3.0.9.
I did hear from someone else that what actually is needed is a upgrade
to 3.0.9 from either sources or rpm which is available at redhat's
update site. It would be nice if SuSE would upgrade the pcmcia-cs
module so that I could use a suse-based rpm.
The other question since I am here :) is printing. I read in the
documentation/changes that printing "may" change and you may find that
the printer ports change under 2.2.4. HAs anyone had problems getting
yast and apsfilter setup correctly? Did you install the parport device
or just the base level parallel port printing support under the new
kernel configuration?
